Pre-Sale Settings
Pre-Sale Settings allows you to sell incoming inventory before it arrives without overselling or confusing customers.
What It Does
- Allows pre-orders based on incoming stock
- Limits overselling to known inbound quantities
- Adds clear messaging to customers
Before You Begin
- WooCommerce must be installed and active
- You should have a clear understanding of incoming inventory quantities
Initial Setup
- Go to the Pre-Sale Settings page in your WordPress admin
- Enable pre-sale functionality
- Set your default messaging
- Configure badge display options (optional)
How It Works
When enabled, the plugin allows customers to purchase items that are not currently in stock, up to the amount of inventory you expect to receive.
Once that limit is reached, additional orders are blocked to prevent overselling.
Common Use Cases
- Selling limited edition or special order items before the shipment arrives
- Taking orders on high-demand items that are temporarily out of stock
- Managing limited inbound inventory
Best Practices
- Keep your inbound quantities accurate
- Use clear messaging so customers understand timing
- Avoid enabling pre-sale on items with uncertain supply
Troubleshooting
Customers cannot place orders
Check that your inbound quantity is set correctly and has not been exceeded.
Pre-sale messaging is not showing
Verify that the plugin is enabled and messaging settings are configured.
